My Expectations for High School

what i expect to get from high school would be an education for college. also skills that can help me later in life. Also an experience that i can look back on and feel mostly happy about. i expect to learn something of worth that can help me get the job i want or a good paying one. i expect to get good grades to do all that.

my expectations for the next four years would be to have decent grades and to have fun. by the end of my four years a expect to have good friends and a path. by the time i graduate i expect to have learned enough in each category to get by. also to go to a good college.

Poetry Out Loud

for poetry out loud i chose the poem in just by e. e. cummings. i chose it because it was different and i liked how it was written. when i read the poem i think the author is writing about a memory of some thing he saw a long time ago or something. to me this poem means that maybe cummings watched the kids run to the lame baloonman or maybe he knew him.
i feel like this poem is going to be kinda hard to say out loud because it has some big spaces between some of the words and no spaces between others. the poem is not very long and the lines are short. when i recite my poem i think im going to pause for the spaces and speed up when there is no spaces. i kinda dont think im gonna be in the top ten because i get really nervous when im in front of a bunch of people and i might say something wrong......but i hope not memorize

My boo Radley

someone tell me if this sounds weird or is alright.

My Boo Radley
I never quite know what to say to you
You seem slightly distant
But you are content
I never understood some of the things you did
Like smiling… at everyone
Or saving everything you received
What is your life like?
Was
But you saved me more times than I can remember
Like when I tripped on the ground you fixed me up
Or when you told me not everyone is the same and people work in different ways
You seem like you need to say something but don’t know how
I wonder what were you going to say all those times
But you smile and move on
I’ll always think and wonder about you
You are my Boo Radley.

Stopping by woods on a snowy evening

i think the poem "stopping by words on a snowy evening" is saying that the writer of the poem is stopping in the woods to watch another guys woods fill with snow. the writer knows that the guy who owns that wood is not there so he wouldnt mind the writer stopping and looking at them. the horse thinks its weird that hes stopping without a farmhouse near and its the darkest day of the year. the horse shakes the harness because he is wondering if there is a mistake. the only other sounds there are the wind and the snow. the writer think the words are dark and deep. he has promises and responsibilities to keep and miles to go before he sleeps.

i chose this poem because it is probably something i would do. i probably would just stop and look at the snow falling even though i had things to do. i like this poem because i kinda understand what he feels like sometimes. in the poem it says "the woods are lovely, dark and deep," i think that could also mean his life is like that and he isnt all that happy.

Changing Perceptions of Boo Radley

One of the mysterious occurrences that can be traced back to boo radley would be him folding up and sowing jems pants for him. he sowed them as if here were a little kid to make it seem as if jem did it. an other mysterious occurrrence that can be traced back to boo radley is him putting little things in a hole in the tree in his yard and jem and scout find the things. these things change my perception of boo radley by me thinking he is weird and doesnt come out of his house but he is nice in a way and kinda cares for the kids. these things show that boo radley might be nicer than the kids thought and that he isnt as scary.

the conversation between miss maudie and scout shows me that she is hiding something from scout and she wont tell her. atticus doesnt like the kids playing the radleys, that might mean that he doesnt like any of the things the town is saying about boo and he thinks the kids shouldnt take part in that sort of thing.

This Book Changed My Life

Well i have read a hell of a lot of books and this one had a lot of life lessons that i could use. i dont think i have really changed much after i read the book but do think that a lot of the things that atticus said impacted me. the vocab was also really helpful too. i learned a bunch more words from all the vocab tests.

i have learned from the events in the book how badly african/american people were treated. also that judging people is wrong and that you shouldnt until you know them or not at all. the kids shouldnt have judged boo radley because they didnt know any thing about him. also that its a sin to kill a mockingbird meaning that its not right to kill a person for no reason.

Themes

Scout is staring to grow up and is beginning to sct less innocent. she is starting to think like the other towns people and not like her own. Jem is also growing up. he is wanting to be by himself more and not hang around Scout exept whan they're at home. When calpurnia says,"i just can't help it if MisterJem growin' up. he's gonna want to be off to himself a lot more," it shows that Jem is becoming more mature.
an example of the theme being shown in teh novel would be when Scout says Tom Robinson is just a Negro instead of an actual person. also now Dill is staring to think for himself and he deosn't like how Tom Robinson is being treated by Mr. Gilmer.

Atticus as a father

Atticus as a father seems nice enough and is not too strict with Jem or Scout. he is fair and probably knows what's best for them. atticus seems like the type of parent who would let his kids get away with the unimportant stuff. scout and jem are having a brawl over jem bosing scout around. atticus splits them up and says, " let's leave it at this: you mind jem whenever he can make you." this shows that he doesnt want to spend to much time on thw things that dont matter much and thinks of the best and fairest way to deal with it. i think atticus ie trying to install fairness into jem ans scout and understanding and that they are both equal.
In some ways my parents are like atticus and most of the time they're not like him. when dealing with a stiuation like jem and scouts brawl my mom would probably just go to one of me or my brother and try t chear one of us up and say a few things. my dad would probably want to know exactly what happened and try to figgure it out. at some times i would like a father like atticus but other times i would prefer my parents.

First Impressions of Boo Radley/ Character I'm Most Like

My first impressions of Boo Radley was that his was really weird. Its really weird how he looks into random people's windows and kills poor animals. I really don't think he eats cats or squirrels or when he breathes it freezes things, those rumors don't sound like they could ever be true. I also thought he was kinda crazy because he stabbed his dad with scissors. "There was a long jagged scar that ran across his face; what teeth he had were yellow and rotten; his eyes popped, and he drooled most of the time," (pg. 13) this description of Boo makes him sound like hes a zombie or that he seriously doesn't take care of himself. i think his house fits him.
I'm not really like any of the three characters but i think I'm kind of a combination of Dill and Scout. Dill because he is friendly and a little bit shy. Scout because she is mostly truthful and she also has a brother.

The Best Thing About English So Far

The thing i have most enjoyed in English was probably writing the letter to Mrs. Gilman. I liked it because i got to write about myself and things that i liked. Another thing that i enjoyed in English so far is creating the posters for the subjects on the syllabus she gave us. It was fun to work with other people. It was also kinda fun to present it in front of the class. The quiz after was pretty interesting too.
