This Book Changed My Life

Well i have read a hell of a lot of books and this one had a lot of life lessons that i could use. i dont think i have really changed much after i read the book but do think that a lot of the things that atticus said impacted me. the vocab was also really helpful too. i learned a bunch more words from all the vocab tests.

i have learned from the events in the book how badly african/american people were treated. also that judging people is wrong and that you shouldnt until you know them or not at all. the kids shouldnt have judged boo radley because they didnt know any thing about him. also that its a sin to kill a mockingbird meaning that its not right to kill a person for no reason.

Themes

Scout is staring to grow up and is beginning to sct less innocent. she is starting to think like the other towns people and not like her own. Jem is also growing up. he is wanting to be by himself more and not hang around Scout exept whan they're at home. When calpurnia says,"i just can't help it if MisterJem growin' up. he's gonna want to be off to himself a lot more," it shows that Jem is becoming more mature.
an example of the theme being shown in teh novel would be when Scout says Tom Robinson is just a Negro instead of an actual person. also now Dill is staring to think for himself and he deosn't like how Tom Robinson is being treated by Mr. Gilmer.

Atticus as a father

Atticus as a father seems nice enough and is not too strict with Jem or Scout. he is fair and probably knows what's best for them. atticus seems like the type of parent who would let his kids get away with the unimportant stuff. scout and jem are having a brawl over jem bosing scout around. atticus splits them up and says, " let's leave it at this: you mind jem whenever he can make you." this shows that he doesnt want to spend to much time on thw things that dont matter much and thinks of the best and fairest way to deal with it. i think atticus ie trying to install fairness into jem ans scout and understanding and that they are both equal.
In some ways my parents are like atticus and most of the time they're not like him. when dealing with a stiuation like jem and scouts brawl my mom would probably just go to one of me or my brother and try t chear one of us up and say a few things. my dad would probably want to know exactly what happened and try to figgure it out. at some times i would like a father like atticus but other times i would prefer my parents.
